Hazelcast Clustering with Multicast in Overlay Driver

Post by Shiyghan »

I have been doing some further investigation on options available for running Cyclos on cloud platforms such as IBM Bluemix, Microsoft Azure and Google Compute Platform.

Support for Docker on all 3 appears to be shifting towards Kubernetes. Many, including myself have tried implementing Cyclos with the default multicast mode for Hazelcast based clustering without success. This appears to be due to the fact that multicast network packages can not be transported to containers in an overlay network configuration. For more information on the experience reported by others, see https://github.com/docker/swarm/issues/1691

Given that Docker is one of the supported deployment options for Cyclos, are there plans to enable the use of Docker containers on Azure, Bluemix or GCP?

Successfully got Cyclos working on Kubernetes using StatefulSets. Excellent documentation available at https://kubernetes.io/docs/tutorials/st ... teful-set/
