Couldn't send message to gateway

Post by nzjustinc » Tue Nov 27, 2012 4:41 pm

I've been trying to hook up the sms module using an android gateway amp. i can send txt using the browser http://lalala:9090/sendsms?&phone=12345&text=hello

but when i try via the monitor the gateway is timing out. Any suggestions or known fix ups? would be appreciated.

Hi,

It seems to be an network issue. See if your server (where is hosting the sms module) can resolve the address that you have specified in the httpdriverconfig.properties (gateway address).

Tested via my server and also through iptools.com with the following result...

PING 192.168.43.1 (192.168.43.1) 56(84) bytes of data.
--- 192.168.43.1 ping statistics ---
5 packets transmitted, 0 received, 100% packet loss, time 4012ms :(

192.168.43.1 is my android phone gateway app. Is it possible that the '0 received pings' are due to my carrier blocking the activity? i was hoping the app would by-pass the carrier altogether. Ideas anyone?

Hi

I Used this app https://play.google.com/store/apps/deta ... smsgateway at my android to test the gateway and works fine.
Maybe you can try.
Another thing is to verify if there is a Firewall app or another restriction on your device.

Well its a small world ain't it... funny enough thats exactly the app I'm using. :P

On one hand i can send txt to mobiles using the browser... url to gateway port 9090 (thats gr8  ); but then on the other hand... no matter which server is pinging the response is always zero  . So is it identifying the port 9090 as the only open port or something. I'll spend some time looking at my android mobile (firewalls, etc...). Thanks for the advice.

Might be a case of one step forward and two steps backward... heres the log.

Hello gents,

Hmm this was going back 2 years on this forum, but maybe you are all still receiving these posts.
Worth a shot.

I'm having the same issue as described in this thread and I will be visiting my mobile phone carrier tomorrow morning to investigate their take on it.

My application receives a connection timed out -110 error, yet sending message direct from the browser seems to be allowed through the gateway. The application also receives SMS from the gateway perfectly.

The IP address and ports have been double checked and I have attempted to change the incoming port also to 8080 and others in an attempt to avoid any limits from my GoDaddy server.

Any extra clues or advise in this would be great.

cheers,xK
