license

Post by ichnaton »

Hi
I want to extend the project with some extra stuff. Now, before to start, I need to know * under which license * the code has been published.

There is no reference in the cyclos-src.zip i downloaded. Articles on the website say "open source" but that is a little weak, isn't it, with over 100 licenses having been approved open source.

I know its a stupid question which will cause a lot of headache, but, otherwise i will have a headache later on, when someone took the code and changed the license proprietarily.

The licence is GPL. In the root of cyclos you can find a GPL.txt file with licence information. Further all Java classes in Cyclos have the following text:

/*

This file is part of Cyclos.

Cyclos is free software; you can redistribute it and/or modify
it under the terms of the GNU General Public License as published by

Later on, after asking this question, I saw in several java files the same text. Good, GPL is favourite here.
Thanx Hugo
