Migration tool

Post by Stuart » Tue May 06, 2014 7:49 am

Hello

Is there any update on the date to expect a migration tool 3.7.3 > 4.0

We need to either migrate to the new version with full support or employ someone to update and customise our mobile app

Regards

Hi,

There is no estimation for the migration tool yet. We will provide with the next Cyclos 4.2 version a work around. This version will come with import functions for users + images, transactions, user records, advertisements + images, references. We will also provide a tool to export that data from a Cyclos3 database to files (with the correct format for importing them in Cyclos4).
The configuration of Cyclos4 would still need to be done manually.

Hi

Can you tell us if there will be one in the future for sure or is that still unclear.

We need to look at the future of our systems and if we need to start working on a protracted migration with out a migration tool we would like to start sooner rather than later ?

Hi,

There will be migrations scripts for sure. We cannot give any estimation however.

Just a quick update, in Augustus we introduced the system imports, see our newsletter:
http://www.cyclos.org/newsletter/2014_08/index.html

This makes simple migrations (without images) already possible:
- The users can be exported using the export icon on the user search.
- The advertisements can be exported using the export icon on the ads search too.
- The transactions can be exported through the member reports, make sure to only select debit or credit transaction not both, otherwise each transaction will be imported twice. Also this doesn't export the system-system transactions.

Thank you

Hello

We have completed our set up of a new 4.3 version and are preparing to migrate +/- 700 users - The one thing I cannot find a solution to is the passwords. Has anyone any suggestions.

I can import passwords on the new system but cant export them from here (3.7)

I can create new password on the new system but these are not sent out by email ...

I cannot set everyone to the same "1234" as that is just not acceptable

Any input will be greatly appreciated

Thank you
