URGENT Email ad alerts have stopped working

Hi,

Ad alert emails have stopped working - members are not alerted to ads matching their interests. This was OK until recently. I have checked permissions, nothing has been changed but I have reset them anyway, but it did not fix it.

Can somebody help, please?

Something similar happened in July last year. Cyclos is our LETS' main way of commucating ads etc and if it doesn't send emails it's a major problem. Nothing in our config has changed at all, on either occasion.

If as it seems to be it's an internal email problem for the Cyclos organisation, would it be solved if I changed our SMTP handler to an external server? Doesd anybody have any experience of doing that?

I tested yesterday the ad interest notifications and it's working fine.
Can you check again your problem.

Thanks for looking into this.

Members have complained to me that they were not receiving email notifications of ads matching interests, and our coordinator and I posted a number of test ads but received no notifications. After that I posted to this forum.

I have now retested and there are still no "ads matching interest" notifications being sent. I am member "Sean18" and our coordinator is "Jane118"

For example, my latest tests from earlier this afternoon:

User "Sean18" posted an ad entitled "Test" in category "Accomodation", subcategory "Bed & breakfast" with text "Test". "Jane118" did not receive a notification even though she has an "all ads" filter set up, so she should receive a copy of every ad.

As admin, I then enabled SMS notifications as well as email, in case it was an email server problem, and made sure my mobile number was stored in the system.

Most of our members have set up an ad interest with no categories or keywords selected, so that they receive an email for every ad, so in case the "empty filter" was the problem I (Sean18) set up an extra ad interest for Bed & breakfast advertisements with a keyword "Test".

"Jane118" then posted a similar ad. "Sean18" now has two ad interests set up - one with no conditions, which receives copies of every ad, and one just for "Bed & breakfast" with the Keyword Test, so I should have been notified of the new ad even if the "empty filter" was the problem. "Sean18" did not receive a notification of ad matching interest by email or by SMS.

I have not yet tested other notifications, but nothing has been changed and we had a working system.

We find a problem on the notification generation.
We will fix this as soon as possible at communities instance.

Is this issue related to emails not being sent for payments?
should something be done in order for them to be sent?

The problem is back again! :(
No alerts are send anymore.

Can one of the develloppers check the 'why' and you fix it?

Hi

I cannot reproduce the problem.
Please check your email settings and also the user/admin notification preferences to receive email.
Also check the spam folder of your mailbox.

We have the same problem: The notification system works within the system, but no notifications about new postings are being send to exterior mail accounts anymore. It used to work for years now.
E-Mail settings, notification preferences and spam folders have been checked.
What can we do? Thank you for your help!
